A guide to Ice Festival 2024 in Khuwsgul lake

During the Ice Festival, over 20 riders tested their skills and agility in the Horse Sleigh Races on the frozen lake and fascinated visitors. To expand the scope of the Race, Citizens' Representative Khural of Khuvsgul Aimag has decided to confer titles and certificates upon the horse trainers securing the first position in the race. Moreover, the Festival offered various particular activities and competitions, such as the performance of the musical band "Qirwa Anka," the symbol of the traditional culture of Ecuador, South America. Approximately 700 foreign tourists from 17 countries participated in this Festival.

This annual frosty fiesta, which opens its icy arms in March, keeps the chill and thrill going for a good couple of days every year. This year it is been the 22nd time in Khatgal soum of Khuvsgul province on March 2-3, 2024, bringing together over 50 thousand domestic and foreign tourists.

Mongolia, especially Khuvsgul province has the opportunity to develop winter tourism. Therefore, this year, with a focus on promoting Mongolia internationally, the Ice Festival was held in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Khuvsgul province and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia. Bambuu, and ARTGER, content creators on Mongolian cuisine displayed nomadic cooking, capturing the attention of hundreds of domestic and international guests.


The "Blue Pearl" Ice Festival was organized with a commitment to being free of garbage, ensuring environmental friendliness in every possible way. Tourists expressed their satisfaction with the Festival, and domestic and international attendance has been steadily growing.#ice festival
