From the expansive horizons of the steppes to the historic lagoon of Venice, art remains our most powerful universal language.
The global art world is turning its gaze toward the "Olympics of Art" - the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia. This year’s theme, "In Minor Keys," invites us into a contemplative space of quiet resonance and vulnerability. For Mongolia, the 2026 edition marks a historic milestone as we prepare to transport the soul of the steppes to the historic canals of Venice.
The Mongolia Pavilion: "Entanglements"
Curated by Uranchimeg Tsultem and Thomas Eller, the Mongolia Pavilion presents "Entanglements: Connectivities Across Borders." Moving away from the image of Mongolia as a fixed or isolated geography, the exhibition explores our homeland as a dynamic, pulsing hub of trade, diplomacy, and spirituality that has connected Eurasia for centuries.
The Visionaries Representing Mongolia
Four leading contemporary artists have been selected to represent our nation on this prestigious stage. Their work creates a profound dialogue between ancient traditions and futuristic expressions:
Gerelkhuu Ganbold: Masterfully blends traditional Mongol Zurag with industrial and futurist themes.
Dorjderem Davaa: Explores human existence and spiritual endurance through raw, organic materials.
Nomin Bold: Her intricate works navigate cultural memory and the feminine spirit within shifting borders.
Tuguldur Yondonjamts: Connects ecological time with nomadic history through complex drawings and installations.
