Suppose you want to enjoy an unforgettable cultural adventure filled with tradition, history, and the unique spirit of Mongolia. In that case, the 2025 “Nomads” World Cultural Festival is the perfect event for you. The fourth annual festival will take place from August 22 to 24, 2025, at the foot of Taij Khairkhan Mountain in Nalaikh District, Ulaanbaatar. This exciting celebration will showcase Mongolia’s rich cultural traditions and help promote global understanding of nomadic life.
The festival is part of Mongolia’s efforts to protect and promote its intangible cultural heritage, in line with UNESCO’s 2003 Convention, Mongolia’s Cultural Heritage Law (Article 39.2), and Government Resolution No. 41 (January 25, 2024).
This year, the festival will be set up like a traditional ger camp, matching the country’s regional development goals. Visitors will get to explore the unique customs of Mongolia’s many ethnic groups through more than 780 cultural programs and activities, including competitions in 10 traditional national sports. Guests will also be able to join in hands-on cultural experiences and learn more about Mongolia’s living traditions.
Some of the festival highlights include:
Ger camps representing different provinces and the capital city
A special area called the “Cultural Heritage Station”
An international conference called “The World of Nomads: Past and Future”
A “Tourist Food Street” offering traditional Mongolian dishes
A trade fair and exhibition for small and medium-sized businesses
At the same time, the festival will collect and study information from tradition bearers to help support and protect Mongolia’s cultural heritage for the future.
One of the biggest events will be the 17th World Championship of Mounted Archery, featuring over 120 skilled archers from more than 30 countries, including 15 of Mongolia’s best archers. The competition will be judged by international experts, and representatives from UNESCO and the World Federation of Mounted Archery will also attend.
Whether you're a cultural explorer, a food lover, or a sports fan, the 2025 “Nomads” World Cultural Festival offers something for everyone—and a chance to experience the heart of Mongolia.
